The RiverWorks Food Shelf is a vital resource for our community, providing essential support to families in need. In 2024, the Food Shelf served 1,750 family visits, supported 350 unique families, and distributed an incredible 193,500 pounds of food. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, generous food donations, and countless hours of hard work, the RiverWorks Food Shelf continues to bring hope and nourishment to the heart of our community—the family table.

Our doors opened to the community in 2010. Since then we have served as a safety net of supplemental food and essentials to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, 40% of those we serve are children. In 2019 we became a certified SuperShelf.  Through our SuperShelf transformation, we have created a welcoming place for our community to access appealing, healthy food. We strive to break down stereotypes of hunger and provide a place of hope where people are treated with dignity.

As I sat with an almost empty gas tank I thought, really God, you are going to make me choose between fuel for my truck or food for my family?  I knew the food shelf was here, and now I was sitting in front of it, and finding the courage to go in.  When I did, I was met with a warm smile, acceptance, and more groceries than I could have imagined. RiverWorks could not solve all my problems but gave me a hint of hope that my family could make it!

Former Food Shelf Client

Our neighbors are welcomed at the food shelf and are invited to shop alongside one of our volunteers.  Inside, our neighbors will find quality fresh produce, meat, and dairy products.  Along with many choices of other dry goods, breakfast cereals, and even fun snacks for kids.

Are you or a neighbor having to make choices between fuel, utilities, medicine, or food?  You don’t have to make that choice; RiverWorks Food Shelf is here to serve.  We are honored by this great privilege to share food with love for every table.
