Thousand Hearts Serve Day!
September 26, 2020
Oh, this group of people! We laugh, we work, we love. The 2020 Thousand Hearts Steering Committee.
Thank you to our Photography Team, Craig Boysen, BANKWEST and Stacy Bunting, Crow River Reflections. They take the most beautiful photos! Thank you both!
Thank you to Rockford Lions for your continued support in the Community and for caring about our word by projects such as collecting eyeglasses and hearing aids!
Our Father's Lutheran Church is another of our wonderful Community Partners. Thank you to the volunteers who served on September 26!
Thousand Hearts and the Ames-Florida-Stork House have been partners for eight years! This year these strong hands and big hearts pulled weeds, spread mulch and tidied up the grounds in record time.
Elmwood Cemetery is a Signature Project of Thousand Hearts, meaning we have been partners for 8 years! It was another beautiful day at the cemetery with many families working together with community volunteers to improve the grounds, clear away overgrown grass from many markers and even discover five grave markers from the late 1800's to early 1900's. We encourage all to visit this lovely, peaceful and historic cemetery. Thank you to the many volunteers who accomplished so much in one morning!
As an addition to Thousand Hearts Serve Day, Thousand Hearts 365 was formed to provide year-round services to the community as needs arise. Currently we help maintain the historic Ames-Florida-Stork House grounds and bring members of the Maple Hill Estates community together for a weekly Coffee and Donut gathering. We also help families in need to attain help from the RiverWorks Thrift Store and Food Shelf. The Thousand Hearts Reading Buddies program provides reading help to three grades at Rockford Elementary Arts Magnet School. (This program is currently furloughed.)
Community Thanksgiving Dinner, 2019 at Maple Hill Estates. Staff, volunteers and residents all contributed to make a great dinner and enjoyed the fellowship.
Maple Hill residents enjoy Coffee and Donuts the first Thursday of every month at the neighborhood Hy-Vee
Officer Steve from the Corcoran Police Department makes a quarterly visit. He has become a good friend to all.
With the help of super volunteer, Josh, we redesigned and planted the area around the Greenfield Mall sign.
Thousand Hearts Red Cross Blood Drive collected 30 units of blood, May 18, 2020.
